The Verdejo grape is the grape par excellence of the white wines of Castilla y León. Originally from Tierras de Medina (Valladolid) it was introduced by the Mozarabs in the 11th century, so it has a historical roots in that region.

This is a white grape of great quality, one of the best in Spain and, why not say so, the world. The plant has a robust trunk and a leaf and cluster of small-medium size.

Verdejo wine is usually aromatic, with body, glyceric and easy to drink. It has a good acidity and a characteristic bitter touch. In the past, verdejo wines had a great resemblance to the wines of Jerez, being the base of wines with solera and with a long aging in wooden barrels.

The Verdejo grape is the main protagonist of wines with Denomination of Origin Rueda, which covers the provinces of Valladolid, Segovia and Avila. It is also planted in the Denominations of Cigales, Toro and Canary Islands. Outside Spain we can find it in Portugal and Australia.
