Campo de Borja Wine

Campo de Borja is a region with a great wine tradition. The first documents about the cultivation of the vine date back to the year 1145, and of the approximately 5,000 hectares of the Campo do Borja, almost half belong to vineyards between 30 and 50 years old.

The vineyards, where the Garnacha grape is the undisputed queen, are characterized by low yield, being therefore the Campo de Borja wines highly appreciated enologically speaking for the aromatic complexity that wines possess.

La do Campo de Borja is located in the province of Zaragoza and encompasses a total of 18 municipalities, with Borja being the center of the region. It enjoys a Mediterranean-continental climate and as particularity we highlight the Cierzo, cold and dry wind blowing from the north.

The District of Campo de Borja is divided into three subzones: low zone, with altitudes of between 350 and 450 meters. It is the earliest maturation zone and from there come warm, powerful and very aromatic wines. Middle zone: altitude between 450 and 550 meters. High zone: altitude between 550 and 700 meters, with vineyards located in the foothills of the Moncayo. Fine, subtle and elegant wines.

It is inside the Campo de Borja where the Garnacha grape finds all its splendor. Monovarietal wines of this type of grape of great national and international prestige are elaborated. Wines of a very defined personality, of great quality, complex and unique in the world.

For red wines, in addition to Grenache, for Campo de Borja wine other grapes such as Tempranillo, Mazuelo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah are used. They are monovarietales or mixed wines that stand out for their intense fruity and floral aromas, of fleshy palate, with character while still showing great features of modernity.

As for the whites, in the Campo do Borja field they use Macabeo, Chardonnay and Moscatel grapes, notable for their lightness, freshness and delicate aroma. For the rosé wine they mainly use Garnacha grape, being wines very fruity and with accented floral aromas.
